The 2016 Alabama Hawking Association Annual Meet
February 26-28 in Camden, Alabama
Camden is 2.5 hours south of Birmingham, 2.75 hours west of Dothan, 2.5 hours north of Mobile.
Gary Brewer, author of Buteos and Bushytails, will be leading a falconry workshop Friday night. He will also be the guest speaker at the banquet Saturday night and will be hunting with us throughout. Looking forward to hunting with the guy that wrote the book on squirrel hawking—literally!
Our host hotel is the Southern Inn; 40 Camden Bypass; Camden, AL 36726. Prices are $50-$60. Note: They use house hold cleaners and will be prepared to have rooms aired out the days before arrival. They’re booked on Friday the 26th but have some rooms available on Saturday the 27th. If all rooms are booked at the Southern Inn, please contact the American Inn (also in Camden).
Millers Ferry Campground is also close-by for those interested in camping. This campground offers 42 family sites with electric hookups. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, laundry facilities and a dump station. As of 1/29/16 they appear to have multiple sites available. They can be reached at (334) 682-4191.
You need to book your room/cabin/camping spot as soon as possible due to hunting season!
We have Saturday the 27th locked in at the American Legion for our Saturday night banquet. We will meet at the hotel.
Big thanks go out to Big Daddy Lawler and Michael Moore. Big Daddy is sharing his resources, including working with the Wilcox County Chamber of Commerce towards securing a sponsor to cover our banquet costs. Thanks for your footwork Michael!
We would like to extend an invitation to those of you in Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky and Georgia. Ya’ll come!
For more information regarding the meet and for directions or any other details, please contact Michael Moore at 334-456-1417. If there is no answer, please leave your name & number and he will return your call.
